How Far Along? 37 weeks {Baby Walsh is considered full term!}
Size of Baby: Winter Melon — another fruit I’ve never heard of!
Weight Gain: Up 2 pounds since last week {thank you Christmas cookies!}, so 30 lbs. since pre-pregnancy
Maternity Clothes: Thanks to my mom, I now have a maternity coat! It’s going to be like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and will be shared amongst my sisters when the time comes for them π Now I can stay warm on my walks with Lyla & while on recess duty at school.
Nursery: I feel like we’re at a really good place with the nursery. Everything we absolutely need for Baby Walsh is ready! I will post a complete nursery reveal once our rocking chair comes in π
Thanks to my wonderful hubby for making my Pinterest vision come to life with this beautiful book wall.
Movement: I’m continuing to count kicks and make sure I feel at least 10 movements every 2 hours. Baby still moves a ton, and I can tell that Baby W is getting bigger because I can feel its feet kicking further along my belly than before.
Symptoms: I have several new symptoms this week.
- First of all, the compression socks my doctor recommended have worked wonders! I still have slight swelling in my ankles at the end of the day, but nothing compared to what they were like. The biggest difference though, has been that I no longer wake up in the middle of the night with terrible cramping in my calves.
- At my doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, my doctor informed me that I’m 1 cm. dilated — looks like we’re officially on baby watch now! π
- Something I realized I never mentioned is that for the past few weeks I’ll occasionally feel baby hiccuping. It’s such an odd sensation to feel, and doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s so cute!
- I feel as though I’m carrying a little lower this week because it feels like I have a little more space to breath. With that said though, I also feel like I have to use the bathroom more frequently because of the pressure baby is putting on my bladder! I’ve read that baby begins to “drop” closer to its due date, so this could be what I’m feeling!
- I officially have the “pregnancy waddle.”
Sleep: Still sleeping well! My usual bedtime is 9:00 unless I fall asleep on the couch prior to that. There are also some wonderful nights when I don’t get up at all to use the bathroom!
Cravings: I’ve been indulging in all sorts of Christmas cookies.
What I Miss: Being able to put on socks and boots without so many strange sound effects — it’s difficult to reach down there!
Best Moment This Week: My amazing teaching partner Kristen, room moms, and 4th grade students threw me a surprise baby shower! Our students had taken a math test on Monday, so we planned to play math games as a whole fourth grade on Tuesday. Little did I know that we were not having math class at all that day π
I was completely surprised & overwhelmed by their generosity. My students’ families all pitched in to purchase our stroller!
It was such a fun afternoon watching my students try to determine the flavor of different baby food & enjoy some sweet treats. I’m extremely grateful to have such an amazing group of students this year!
Looking Forward To: I have lots to look forward to this week!
- My work baby shower — I’m so lucky to work in such an amazing school this year!
- My next doctor’s appointment — I’m anxious to see if my body has made any more progress.
